Post AGM Clarification of Images Qualifying for Competitions

Debated and agreed unanimously by Members at AGM 2022.


Agreed Proposal


#1] That the following genres be formally recognized as specific areas of photography,
Landscape, Portraiture, Nature, Street, Sports/Action & Creative

#2] That at least two of these genres are included as a set subject for competition each season.

#3] That in "Open" Competitions, only one image matching any of the above Genres is eligilble for entry. The final decision on eligibilty resides with the Competition Secretary

Definition Clarification


Creative Images include:
 Images where an obviously artistic treatment has been applied or radical changes made to the original photograph.
 Images created using more than one constituent image or part.
 Images where manipulation goes beyond the allowed post processing eligible for non-creative image.

Creative Images exclude:
 Any component part that was not taken by/or not of photographic copyright of the final image author.

Non-Creative Images [i.e all other images.]
 A photograph should convey the essential truth of what the photographer saw at the time it was taken.

Non-Creative Images include:
 Processing of the captured image, by cropping, exposure adjustment, colour correction, noise minimisation, dodging/burning, HDR, focus stacking and sharpening, is permitted, as is cloning of minor image defects and minor distractions including overlapping elements.
 The use inclusive or author produced brushes using standard photographic software.

Non-Creative Images exclude:
 Images where an obviously artistic treatment has been applied or radical changes made to the original photograph.
 Images comprising of more than one constituent image or part to produce a composite result.



Digital Competition Entries & Digital Copies of Print Entries


During our physical meeting suspension period we used an online entry system for our competitions. Owing to its success, this is now our default method for the submission of all digital images.
Every member has access to the system at https://success.clubsoftware.org/ or if a new user/member then when asked input our unique club code 426153
For each competition and before the due date, Digital Competition Entries shall be submitted using this system.
In addition, a digital copy of images entered in Print Competitions shall be submitted via the same system.
