Hi BPS members

Meeting report

Despite the zoom gremlins giving both of our presenters a hard time, the meeting was another great success. Andy, our invited judge for the members competition “Bright & Beautiful”, whilst critiquing each entry in the competition, gave us an insight into the amount of detail he puts into his own entries. There was only one entry that he couldn’t fault and that was “Tulips” entered by Martyn Edwards. It was a wonderful interpretation of the competition title and a very popular winner. Well done Martyn, we are going to have to keep an eye open for you in our monthly competitions this season. In second place was Ian Barrow’s “Highbridge Wreck” and in third place, Ken Hocking’s, “Crocus”. In fourth place was Keith Perry “Plymouth Fireworks’’ and in fifth Jane Billing’s “Peacock Butterfly”. Dudley Palmer’s “Busy Bee” and Keith Perry’s “Fieldfare Feast” were both Highly Commended.

After the competition, Peter talked to us about sensor cleaning, a routine which he recommends should be done regularly. Unfortunately, the technical set up Peter was running didn’t quite perform as hoped but he did give us details of the items recommended to carry out this simple procedure. Due to the problems experienced Peter intends to produce a video of this operation and Martin will include this in a future meeting.

WCPF Kingswood Salver competition group report

We had a brief discussion before the main meeting on Tuesday and hammered out a few details. We are having another zoom meeting tonight (Thursday at 7pm). We are looking for props suitable for a casino setting. Are you able to help please. It would be great to have a roulette wheel! We now need to plan in greater detail how to move forward. One thing I can say for sure is that our chosen theme is Gambling. A few members who put their names forward to help in this entry are meeting on Saturday morning, within the Rule of Six guidelines, at our HQ.

Next week’s meeting September 22nd

We hold our first monthly competition review and results of our new season. The Print category being ‘Open’ and Digital Image ‘Something Old’ Our Judge will be John Tilsley ARPS, DPAGB, APAGB. John is one of the West Country’s leading judges and he actually runs the WCPF’s judge training scheme. All members will get a fair assessment of their work. Remember, most of the learning we offer as a club is via unbiased critique to help you all improve your entries. Please don’t take offence!! Members can log on to the zoom meeting for a general chat at 7.15 ready to start the main event at 7.45pm, see log on details below.
