Hi BPS members

Meeting report

What a fantastic evening! As we expected an excellent presentation by David Keep, something special indeed and quite different from usual professional lectures. He included lots of information on how to gain access to top events and told us that we should never give up trying if it’s the type of photography we like. He made it clear that he was an “image maker” and often blended images together to give that special look. He certainly carried out his promise of delivering ‘Sports Images with Impact’. Here is a couple link to his website where quite a lot of information can be found: and this is one of his many Facebook posts It is likely that we will arrange further lectures from David.

We also talked about our entry in the WCPF Kingswood Salver competition. I have set up a new event page for those members who volunteered to help put together our submission. Please post your images and any suggestions you have to try to create a top level original entry. Some members have already done so, thanks!. We plan a special zoom meeting to talk over our entry topic as well as how we approach this and the props/equipment needed. Maybe we will need a shoot at our HQ (in line with Covid rule of 6). Can all of those members who volunteered their services please log on at 7pm our Tuesday and we can collectively decide the way forward.

Next week’s meeting September 15th

We have our internal members competition ‘Bright and Beautiful’. Could you please enter up to six entries in our normal competition format. As the title suggests it can be virtually any genre of photography as long as the image demonstrates the title bright and beautiful.

Entries are still open so please go to and upload your entries. The competition entry closes on Sunday 10.00pm. Our invited judge is Andy White who I’m sure will give very useful critique which will help us to improve our photography.

Future Events

This Sunday 13th members are invited to the West Somerset whippet racing at the Taunton Polo Club ground. Further details can be found on our FB group page via this link

Stay alert, stay safe, Happy Snapping!

Best wishes
