Newsletter 7th November 2019

Hi Members

Meeting report 5th November

At the Members DPIC competition, we didn’t exactly announce a winner but quite a few members scored highly from our three judges Leigh Ann, Ian and Keith. I must say they did a great job, thanks! It proved to be another very informative meeting as well as enabling selection of the high scoring images to be the basis of our entry in the WCPF annual competition, a competition that we have done brilliantly in over the last couple of years. Ken still wants more, see the details below. Many thanks to Martin for putting together a very interesting and informative meeting

Martin ran through an extensive programme of events that we have over the next month or so, details to follow either via this newsletter or our FB group.

Next week’s Meeting Information

Lecture & Practical Workshop – It’s all about the lighting, natural, flash, and studio. Members are invited to bring along their cameras and lighting equipment including flashguns. If help is needed we will do our best to provide it.

Entries are required for November’s monthly competition which is as follows: Print Movement or Speed; Digital Open. Movement or speed must show movement to have a chance of gaining a good score. Open = anything goes. Our guest Judge is the club’s longstanding friend John Tilsley.

Message from Ken Hocking, Competiton Secretary

Ken asked me to include a request that all members send him more top quality DPIC entries. It would appear that some members brought images that he has copies of due to them being in previous competitions. What he really wants is more top quality images to choose from for our WCPF entry which is due soon. Please create a folder on your club memory stick entitled ‘DPIC entries’. He can then easily find them when taking the monthly competition images.

_1st Basic Tuition Workshop :(Does the camera lie? Basic Exposure, Aperture, Shutter control, and Histogram) Peter has arranged to hire the club room on November 23rd, meeting starts at 9.30am and runs until lunchtime, see FB group page for details. Tea and coffee will be available. Please indicate on the FB event invite, accepting or declining would be helpful. As we get charged for the hire of the room etc, £3.50 on the door should cover the hire costs.

The St Mary’s Church Bells event UPDATE The trip planned on November 14th is cancelled due to problems at the foundry.

Last chance to book for the annual Christmas meal on December 10th at the Harvest Moon North Newton, please let me know if you are coming via the event I have posted in our Facebook group. Deposit of £7.50 per person is required now!!! You can pay Peter cash or bank transfer if preferred, please. I’m sure Peter will not want to collect cash on the night.

All future club meeting information will be added to our closed Facebook Group with personal invites to events being sent to you. Please check regularly on this Facebook Page for event activity.

Best wishes

Brian
