Newsletter 5th September 2019

Hi BPS members,

Well, we are off to an excellent start to the new season! It was great to see five potential new members taking a look at what we do and can offer them, I would like to welcome Mark Whitcombe, Linda Leach, Lisa Sparrow, Gordon Barrett and Amanda Andrews I hope we can offer you what you need to improve your photography Martin introduced himself and all the committee members making it clear to all present that we were there to help them in any way possible. If you didn’t take in all the details, please contact me and I’ll do my best to explain.

After the break, Martin ran through some of the upcoming events and encouraged members to take part in them, because they provide opportunities for us to learn so much from each other.

The St Mary’s church bells project will be organised towards the 2nd half of this month.

The West Somerset Railway project will continue as and when we are needed by them for publicity work etc.

Martin then shared with us loads of his images taken during 2019. They included family holidays and our trips to Cornwall and the Farne Islands. He empathised to our new members that they would all be welcome to join in future trips when they are available. Many thanks to Martin for heading up our first meeting of the season and showing some of interesting images taken during the year.

September 10th meeting info

Three or four members will give short presentations showing images taken during the year. This will include some of the project work undertaken by them on the club’s behalf.

New members are welcome to bring along their cameras where we can offer help as required. We will also run through digital formatting and print mounting etc, please email or message me on Facebook if there is any topics you would like discussed.

Kingswood Salver: we need volunteers to put together our annual panel of five prints for this competition. They will need to decide on the subject and prepare and print the images chosen. So please put your thinking caps on and bring us some good ideas to discuss next week. The small group that put together last year entry did a great job and, while we didn’t get in the placings, they did the club proud.
