Weekly Newsletter 27th September

Dear all,

Meeting Report

It was a pleasure to participate and enjoy our first monthly competition of the season. Judge Ken Holland shared his wealth of knowledge, commenting where in his view images could be refined, but also praised many images for their originality and captured moments. The entry was a good varied selection of quality images appreciated by all. However not everyone will agree with Kens scoring regime where marks from 7 to 20 were used. But I think participants and viewers alike appreciated the constructive comments, giving us all food for thought on how we could further improve our images.

Well done to all entrants and especially for the many superb images that didn’t quite make the top rankings.

The prize winner of our new internal monthly raffle was ticket no. 10 won by Alison, thanks all for supporting.

Next Meeting

On Tuesday 2nd October we will learn and explore the area of Close-Up and Macro Photography, a short lecture followed by a discussion on our equipment, experiences and image examples, before we try to capture some new images on the night. This should be interesting to all and possible open up a whole new area of photography you may not have tried or fully explored.

Please bring any macro equipment you may have with cameras to use on the night. Also if you have any small beasties or pets, flowers, seed-heads or ornaments you would like to experiment with then bring these too. Finally if you have some existing example images you would like to share, then please email them to chair@bwps.org.uk before Monday for inclusion.

Final Final Call - Skomer 2019

We are rapidly approaching the date on which advance booking of accommodation on Skomer is required, therefore can anyone interested contact Peter directly so we can establish the viability of an island visit in late June/early July next year. Peter is on email treas@bwps.org.uk
