22nd May Meeting Report

Peter opened the meeting by making presentations to members who couldn’t make the annual Award Presentation evening on the 15th May. Darren Hillman received the certificate for winning one of the monthly digital image competitions. Brian Sweeting then received four certificates: Digital Photographer of the Year. Winner of Second Chance competition. Winner of a digital an print monthly competition certificates. Peter then called Brian up again to present the PAGB Silver Medal awarded by the WCPF for 2nd best natural history image in the Members Exhibition. Thank you Peter for collecting this medal for me!!

AGM Report

Peter thanked the committee for their support during his year as chairman then asked Roger Tibbles, our President, to take over the role of chairmen to start the AGM.

Election of officers; A few places were vacant due to Peter, Graham, and Richard standing down from their positions. Martin Barber was duly proposed and elected as Chairman and Ken Hocking as Vice Chairman. Keith agreed to continue as Secretary and Peter was proposed and seconded to take the position of Treasurer. Matt Difford agreed will continue as our Web Officer and he also took over the role of Equipment Officer. Brian asked if anyone was willing to take over his role as WCPF Representative and Darren Hillman offered to take over. All the positions were unanimously voted in. I will continue as Members/Communications and Press Officer. Marcia Randel offered to become a committee member and would help in any way she could during 2018/2019 season.

Martin then took over the chair and advised the meeting of the proposals put forward by members. Ken Hocking suggested a number of changes for our competitions. Following a discussion it was agreed that the Members’ Pack will be updated and available on-line during the summer. Members are asked to download and save or print their own copies. Following a lengthy explanation by Martin and Peter of our financial position members agreed that it was necessary to increase subscriptions by £.50 per week and from £20 to £30 per year, full details will be sent later separately. Jim Goddard’s proposal to control talking, use of mobile phones etc during meetings was fully agreed and Martin said he would bare this in mind when chairing next year’s meetings.

AOB, Dudley Palmer proposed we introduce an introductory offer for new members, in principle this was agreed by members present. Committee to decide what that offer will be at the next committee meeting

Summer Events: photography opportunities

  2. Sunday 27th, May Point to Point at Cothlestone starting at 2pm.

  4. Shepton Mallet Prison – Martin has been in contact with the prison and, as we now need to join a public night, the closest available would be Thursday 14th June. The cost is £18 per person. Those interested are asked to reconfirm that they can make this.

  5. Due to too few members signing up we have had to cancel the Exe boat trip. However, it is proposed we still have a photographic day out on that date and suggested locations are requested to be selected by a poll.
