Weekly Newsletter 3rd May

Hi BPS members,

Meeting Report

Our evening on 1st May kicked off with a visit from Phil Shepherd and colleague from the Engine Room, who are based in High Street, Bridgwater. They attempted to explained how we might be able to assist them in connection to the ‘What does it mean to…Belong in Bridgwater’ exhibition planned for Jul 16-28, 2018. After discussion Andy White volunteered to liaise with the Engine Room to establish if we can help them whilst promoting the town and our existence within it. More details to follow.

It was proposed that some of our members that have shown fresh innovative ideas this season consider teaming up to provide a panel of five print images aimed at entering the annual WCPF Kingswood Salver Competition later in the year. To look at last year’s winning panels see http://www.wcpf.org.uk/pages/kingswood-salver-2017.php .

After our break Matt took us through the Annual Folio Competition, which he facilitated admirably and gave us a summary of the comments received. Members enjoyed the experience of ‘judging’ and all but one of the image received a score. The final winners were declared as 3rd Pattern in Nature by Martin Barber, 2nd Zambezi Sunset by Leigh Ann van Aswegen and 1st Eyes by Peter Owen. The folio images are all still available here if you wish to view them.

The evening concluded with a discussion and advance look at some ideas for trips over the summer season. Members feedback was welcomed and please contact martinbarber57@gmail.com with any further comments, details of events or locations you would like included. A final Summer Programme will be established and circulated mid-May.
