Weekly Newsletter 15th February

This Week

We had a treat on Tuesday where we hosted the annual battle against Taunton Camera Club. Judge Peter Weaver gave many complementary comments and scored images highly. It was edge of seat stuff at half time where Taunton led by a single point after the print entries. This lead increased during the digital entry to give Taunton an overall win, but marks were close, and we should be proud to have held our own against what is regarded as a highly respected club.

Next Week

Tuesday 20th February is an external lecture by Keith Spicer on Lightroom/Photoshop.

Future Events

Tuesday 27th February is our Monthly Competition [Prints - Emotive Portrait] [DI - Break the Rules] [Judge - Ralph Snook]

Tuesday 6th March sees an internal Critique Night [Print, DI & Smartphone], so start selecting some images for us to view, discuss and provide friendly constructive feedback.

Advance Notices

Over the next month we are calling for a single digital image from each member for our Annual Folio Competition. This should be something interesting, different, humorous or challenging that will be formally judged by competing members. It allows you to experience how it feels to judge images and then select your favourites, all culminating in a club evening on 1st May.

On 10th April we have our AV competition, this is a short Audio-Visual presentation of images of your choice. It’s a different often very enjoyable way of sharing images or experiences. It’s time to start preparing your entry or discuss how to do it with members over the next few weeks. A wide selection of AV shows can be found on the web including https://archive.slideshowclub.com/

WCPF events

The regional WCPF Members Exhibition is now open for entry, if you are interested in entering then talk with our WCPF representative Brian Sweeting.

Three of us are car sharing to visit WCPF DPIC competition at The Corn Exchange, Exeter on Sunday. This should be a display of the top 1000 or so digital images from the South West!

And Finally

We had an enjoyable portrait evening a few weeks ago, but only a few members have supplied images to the models. If we wish to enjoy such evening in the future, it is important that we provide a selection of images to the models. Irrespective of your equipment or experience please provide a couple of images via Brian mailto:s5555@btinternet.com so that the models have as wide a selection as possible.
