Weekly Newsletter 1st February

This Week

Darren gave us an introductory course in Lightroom in which he covered the basic Lightroom Modules and went on to describe his workflow in detail using an image to illustrate the various steps from start to finish. Darren also shared some useful tips and demonstrated the main Lightroom tools after which Aneka bravely volunteered to “give it a go” and did a sterling job with much good-humoured prodding from Members.

Many thanks to Darren who clearly knows what he’s doing and who offered to share further in-depth forays into Lightroom should Members request it.

Next Week

Bring your cameras for our portrait night where we will have some models and lighting setups for you to experiment in this field of photography. Additionally, Keith Robbins is intending to return so that we can practice with the flash heads and trigger technology discussed in his lecture a few weeks ago.

Future Events

Tuesday 13th February we host our annual competition against Taunton Camera Club, this is always a serious challenge for us and I’m led to believe we will be against some very high-quality images. Win or lose the evening will be full of great photography not to be missed.

Also, this is entry night for our next monthly competition [Prints - Emotive Portrait] [DI - Break the Rules] [Judge - Ralph Snook]

Tuesday 20th February is an external lecture by Keith Spicer on Lightroom/Photoshop.

WCPF events

The regional WCPF Members Exhibition is now open for entry, if you are interested in entering then talk with our WCPF representative Brian Sweeting.

Also, as a club we have entered this year’s WCPF DPIC competition against 56 other photographic groups being judged at The Corn Exchange, Exeter on Sunday 18th February. This is a ticketed event if you’re interested in attending.
