Weekly Newsletter 4th January

Hi BPS members.

We all had a bit of fun discussing and giving and taking a bit of banter with regard to each other’s entries in the ABC competition. There were some super shots depicting the allocated letters on display. Each member was allowed three votes for the entries they thought to be the best. Joint winners were Leigh Ann and Jane with Jim in third place. Yours truly was on form guessing the highest number of letters 19 out of 23 ;-))

ABC Competition Winners

Unfortunately we were not able to hold the smartphone competition due to Richard, who holds the clubs laptop etc, being on holiday. Don’t delete your entries because I’m sure there will be other opportunities to use them in the future.

After our coffee break we discussed a number of issues mostly with reference to tuition as we are all aware that we need to help our newer members, especially as we have included quite specialist subjects for our main monthly competitions this year. It’s unfortunate that we were let down by Adrian Lines who would have given us a lecture on selecting and producing creative images.

Matt has added a software programme to our website which allows members to enter their digital images. They will be automatically resized (to 1400px x 1050px), ready for use on our club’s laptop. Link to software http://bwps.org.uk/resizer/

Next week

We have a visit from Keith Robins who is an expert in flash photography. I suggest you bring your camera and flash if you wish to have a personal word with him during the break or later in the meeting. I’ve seen Keith a couple of times before and if you are the sort that likes doing things on the cheap, he’s your man. A very clever chap!!

January monthly competition:

Ken will be accepting a maximum of 4 prints and 4 digital images this time as we do not expect so many entries as usual. In the unlikely event that there are too many for our judge to deal with, Ken will remove those numbered 004.

Wishing you a Happy, Healthy, Prosporus New Year and keep on snapping

Brian
