Weekly Newsletter 11th October

We started the evening by paying tribute to Grace and wishing her a very happy 90th birthday. Many thanks to Aneka and those who contributed to the cake and flowers. We all wish you a very happy birthday Grace - you are a marvellous example to us all.

Grace

The terrible twins Ken and Keith continued the evening’s entertainment with a talk about their recent trip to Scotland showing detailed routes and many excellent images of countryside and seascapes. I’m sure if you were planning to have a trip north of the border they would be more than happy to give advice etc. Thanks to you both for another top presentation.

It was great to see so many of our newer members present again this week, I hope you are enjoying being a member of BPS. Welcome to Alison Donnellan, sorry I missed your first meeting with us and remember if any of us old guys can help in anyway please let me know.

Ken tells me that our judge this month, John Tilsley, has indicated that would be happy to have approximately 40 prints and 40 DI’s to judge. He will need about one and a half minutes to give a fair critique on each entry at our meeting. Based on this Ken has ask me to pass this message. “Monthly competitions entries from now until further notice are restricted to three prints and three digital images per member.”

Next Week’s Meeting: We start with a CD Lecture on Altered Realities by Adrian Lines. The second half of the meeting will be another in-house-judged smartphone image competition. Please bring your entries (maximum 4 per member) on a memory stick.

Events of Photographic Interest

October 14th/15th National Ploughing competition at Bishops Lydeard. See link: http://www.ploughmen.co.uk/events/british-national-ploughing-championships-copy weather permitting, this will be a great event to get those monthly competition entries. No plans have been put in place yet because no-one has shown interest. Entry is £10 I believe

November 4th. Carnival season is almost upon us and we have a few members who purchased the grandstand seating for Bridgwater Carnival procession be in your seats by 7.30 please.

November 6th. I will also be organising a group to go to Burnham Carnival as last year if you are interested in travelling as a group please let me know.

Reminder and Update: Last week I posted that I had noticed that some of our potential new members who attended our first couple of meetings no longer come attend. I asked last week to let me know if they wished to continue receiving the newsletter and be a member of our closed FB group. No-one to date has made contact, so I take it that they wish to be removed from our group and mailing list. Please let me know before I update our records.

Best wishes

Brian
